Mahyar Goudarzi
Director and founder of GOODARTSY
Biography
Mahyar Goudarzi, born in Düsseldorf in 1992, studied Applied Media Science in Cologne before beginning his directing studies at Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg in 2014.
His hand-drawn animated documentary “Eye for an Eye”, co-directed with Steve Bache and Louise Peter, was nominated for a Student Academy Award in the Foreign Film/Animation category in 2016. The film screened at more than twenty international festivals, including Annecy, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Raindance and the Brooklyn Film Festival, and won awards in Mexico, Albania, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and the United States. In 2022 he directed the documentary “Generation K-Pop” for ARTE, following young artists training in Seoul.
Today he runs GOODARTSY, an AI creative production studio based in Mönchengladbach. Working with generative methods follows the same rules as the film work before it: research, point of view, direction, art direction. Only the tools have changed.
